Monochrome GT4 Australia classes to be decided at the Mountain
A field of 19 crews will round out the 2024 Monochrome GT4 Australia season at Mount Panorama this weekend, where the Ford Mustang GT4 leads an array of debuts at the much revered circuit.
The Lubrimaxx/Miedecke Motorsport team has led the way worldwide in developing the Mustang GT4 highlighted by taking the model’s first win globally at Phillip Island’s opening round, with George Miedecke and young gun Rylan Gray focused on taking out Silver Cup honours.
However, season-long rivals Method Motorsport has enjoyed a superb maiden campaign in the McLaren Artura GT4 after debuting earlier this year at the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour, as its Silver Cup duo of Marcos Flack and Tom Hayman hold a 25-point class lead heading into the finale.
Set to shake up the two Silver Cup contenders will be the Central West Prestige BMW M4 GT4 G82 of Tim Leahey and Cody Burcher. The Bathurst finale marks nearly a year since Leahey debuted the new-spec M4 in Australia, while Burcher returns from Munich where he completed an evaluation test for BMW.
Rounding out the Silver Cup entries is the Gomersall Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Jake Camilleri.
Method Motorsport is in the running for two class titles, as Lachlan Mineeff and Shane Smollen require just a single point to seal the Pro-Am Cup honours.
The Porsche drivers will need to keep watch on the in-form driver for the category, Ryder Quinn. Steering the Black Diamond Building and Construction BMW, Quinn and Steve Jakic sit 52-points in arrears and will require the maximum amount offered across the round.
Aiming to build on the strong results of Sydney, Zagame Autosports’ Jason Yu will have a new co-driver in his Pro-Am Cup McLaren. Open-wheel ace Jon Collins is super-sub for Josh Buchan, who targets back-to-back TCR titles.
Super2 frontrunner Lochie Dalton continues in the Buckby Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 alongside fellow Tasmanian Ben Newman following a solid debut in Sydney, with Dan Jilesen also returning alongside Zoe Woods in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.
Am Cup enjoys the most representation in the field and headlined by Bathurst local Grant Denyer joining Anthony Soole in the Property Investment Store McLaren 570s GT4.
Although Randall Racing has already sealed the Am Cup title through Jacob Lawrence, who is once again joined by John Bowe, teammates Peter Lawrence and Jamie Augustine are aiming to secure third in the standings.
Bailey and Rob Love will drive the sole Love Racing by Volante Rosso Motorsport Mercedes-AMG on the grid, with a similar example entered for Mark Griffith.
Following Am Cup success on debut at the GT Festival and repeating it at Sydney Motorsport Park, Anthony Levitt will be eager to add Bathurst to the list in the second Method Motorsport McLaren.
The Mackay Goodwin/Lloyds Auctions entry of Scott Turner and Rob Rubis will uphold the Ginetta G55 GT4 honours at Bathurst.
Porsches round out the Am Cup field led by Game Over’s Tony Quinn, while debutants Andrew Georgiadis and Ramu Farrell will share the second TekworkX Motorsport entry.
Monochrome GT4 Australia concludes its inaugural standalone season at the Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit as part of the Bathurst International on November 8-10m streaming live through 7plus and internationally via GTWorld.
