Zukanovic Claims Maiden TCM Pole in Disrupted Bathurst Friday

Marcus Zukanovic has claimed his first pole position in Gulf Western Oils Touring Car Masters after a heavily interrupted Friday at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.

Zukanovic set the fastest time in the sole practice session in his Action Motor Industries Ford Falcon XD, before being the only driver to set a representative lap in between the two red flag interruptions during qualifying.

The decision was made to set the grid based on practice times, with Zukanovic heading Pro Am pole winner Cameron Tilley (Valiant Pacer), Ryan Hansford, Andrew Fisher, and Danny Buzadzic (all Holden A9X Toranas).

John Bowe qualified in sixth for what will be his final weekend at Mount Panorama as a full-time driver in the Rare Spares Holden Torana SL/R 5000, one spot ahead of championship leader Steven Johnson’s Hancock Racing Ford Mustang Trans Am.

Pole position in Pro Sports went to John Adams, who qualified ninth outright in his Bullet Trailers Racing Ford Falcon XY GT.

The fastest of the Invitational cars was the Hamilton Asphalts Holden Torana SL/R of Lance Hughes in fourteenth outright.

The Gulf Western Oils Touring Car Masters field returns to the track at 10:25am AEST for the Trophy Race, where TCM returnee Ben Dunn will start from pole in his Fast Meals / Bespoke Financial Advisory Chevrolet Monza.
