Hansford, Johnson set the early pace at Mount Panorama

RYAN HANSFORD and Steven Johnson have set the early pace at Mount Panorama ahead of the fifth round of the Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters Series.

Hansford’s 2m16.1518s flyer is only 0.3 seconds from the outright qualifying record at Mount Panorama, held by Steven Johnson.

Johnson was a promising second aboard the #33 Ford Mustang, still sporting its Allan Moffat ‘Brut’ Mustang tribute livery.

His 2m16.6897s was just 0.5s slower than Hansford as the pair of legendary Bathurst surnames topped the charts.

Andrew Fisher was third as he continues his challenge aboard ‘Mary’, the Jesus Racing Holden Torana SL/R 5000.

Jamie Tilley was fourth in his Ford Mustang, while George Miedecke jumped to fifth late in the 20-minute session aboard his Whiteline Racing Camaro.

The Port Macquarie driver languished at the bottom of the charts until his final 2m17.87s flyer jumped him into the mix on his last lap.

John Bowe was sixth, Cameron Tilley seventh and Adam Bressington eighth as he seeks back-to-back TCM round wins.

Jim Pollicina and Danny Buzadzic completed the top-10 in practice.

The TCM field will have a quick regroup before qualifying at 11:45am today at Mount Panorama.

The action this weekend will be broadcast live on Stan Sport on Saturday and Sunday, with a free 7-day trial an opportunity for TCM fans to catch the action free this weekend.
