Jay Hanson after redemption at Bathurst International
Rewinding back to Round 3 of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series at Bathurst, it proved a disaster for Jay Hanson when he damaged his latest specification Audi severely in opening practice as he aims for redemption at the season finale next month.
Glad to get a second shot at the Mountain in the AWC MPC Racing Audi RS3 LMS TCR, Hanson is aiming for title glory as the final round at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International comes with more points on offer.

“I’m after a lot of redemption because the last time at Bathurst I obviously ended up in the spare car and this time when we head there, we come off a shit round at Sandown to be honest,” said Hanson.
“We had all the pace at Sandown just no results, so I think redemption is a key for me there and obviously the title is a mathematical chance.
“It will be about maximising all the points we can get throughout the weekend and I’ll be definitely hunting for victories at Bathurst.”
Honda Wall Racing’s Tony D’Alberto leads the standings heading to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International, 127-points ahead of sixth placed Hanson as the young gun is taking notice of how the experienced racer set-up his seasons.
“Anyone can look at what Tony has done this season and learn from it, so I think that’s a big thing for myself,” Hanson explained.
“We’ve had the pace, but you look at where we are in the series standings compared to Tony and he has done an outstanding job just being consistent without many dramas.”
Needing to clock up wins, Hanson is confident in the Audi product although its limited running at the world renowned circuit.
“The good thing is we have a fast car in both wet and dry conditions, and at every track we’ve headed to, but we definitely have things to learn,” Hanson reflected.
“It’s going to be a good round.”
A couple of wildcards are expected to throw the cat among the pigeons at Bathurst, one being international TCR driver Teddy Clairet and the other Josh Buchan’s new Hyundai Elantra TCR, but Hanson believes in Melbourne Performance Centre’s formula.
“We’re in the new generation car and it seems to be very quick, so I think a lot of eyes will be on the Hyundai at Bathurst,” he predicted.
“Overall, we need to be just doing what we’ve been doing and hopefully leave the other guys behind us.”
