MINEEFF PUMPED TO TAKE ON GLOBAL TCR STARS
Purple Sector Audi RS3 TCR racer Lachlan Mineeff is primed to take on the world’s best TCR drivers at this weekend’s Race Sydney event at Sydney Motorsport Park.
This weekend doubles as a round of both the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia and Kumho TCR World Tour, a series that has seen some of the world’s best touring car drivers travelling to circuits all over the world. As a result, the field will consist of a quality line-up of 25 cars, encompassing stars such as Rob Huff (England), Nestor Girolami (Argentina) and Frederic Vervisch (Belgium). “The 25-car field will be highly competitive and will really demonstrate the full potential of how good TCR racing can be,” Mineeff said. “In saying that, it’s also a great opportunity for everyone in the TCR Australia field, ourselves included, to showcase our talents on the world stage. “There’s no doubt the quality of drivers on the TCR Australia grid is world class, and of course we’ll have local knowledge of the track on our side as well. “Where the international drivers and teams will be strong is in their in-depth understanding and development of the cars.” While Mineeff is keen to race door-to-door with the international competitors, he understands the importance of the local title contest. “Beating the international drivers would be a nice feather in our cap, but we have to be mindful of the fact they won’t be scoring points in the Australian series, so it will be a case of balancing risk versus reward,” Mineeff said. “We also have 40 kilograms of success ballast after our strong qualifying result in the previous round at Sandown, so that will be another challenge for us to manage throughout the weekend.” The Race Sydney event will include competition underneath Sydney Motorsport Park’s state-of-the-art lighting system on Friday and Saturday evenings. Mineeff’s Purple Sector Racing Audi RS3 is supported by Equipment Dynamics, Southern Cross Truck Rentals, Vagparts Australia, Otis Kiama, AutoInstruct and Forza Brakes.
