Brad Schumacher and Tim Slade score pole for three-hour enduro
A stunning lap from local Brad Schumacher has ensured his Kelso Electrical Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II to be shared with Tim Slade will start from pole for the three-hour endurance event on Sunday of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.
Schumacher set the fastest lap time in his session at a 2m 05.301s to lead the first Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Prince Jefri Ibrahim. His brother Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim in the second team entry was third, but crashed out across the top, with the entry withdrawn as a result.
Marc Cini in the Hallmarc Audi was fourth from Tim Miles in another R8, the Harrolds Volante Rosso Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Ross Poulakis and the lone Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of Adrian Deitz rounded out the Pro-Am entries.
In Am, James Koundouris led the way in the Supabarn Supermarkets Audi from Michael Sheargold’s RAM Motorsport Mercedes-AMG. The sole GT Trophy entry of Valmont Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Marcel Zalloua was faster than both.
Mark Griffith held sway in the GT4 Class driving the Daimler Trucks Brisbane Mercedes-AMG from the second Harrolds Volante Rosso Racing entry of Christos Batzios.
Rounding out the field was the M Motorsport/Vantage Freight KTM X-Bow GT2 of David Crampton at a 2m 25.928s.
Taking over from Poulakis, Jordan Love set the fastest lap among the Professionals at a 2m 03.358s, but the 0.737s gap back to Schumacher’s co-driver Tim Slade wasn’t enough to secure pole for the race.
Feeney just missed out on finishing fastest by 0.035s as Wall, Caruso and Smith completed the Pro-Am field.
The Am Class pole was taken by the Koundouris brothers despite the best efforts of Garth Walden in the RAM Motorsport Mercedes-AMG.
GT4 pole was taken by Sam Brabham in the Harrolds Volante Rosso Racing Mercedes-AMG, while Trent Harrison set a 2m 13.740s in the KTM X-Bow GT2.
Sergio Pires was able to split the two Am Class runners in the GT Trophy Valmont Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The three-hour race tomorrow concludes the Motorsport Australia Endurance Championship at 10:40am AEDT live, uninterrupted and on-demand via Stan Sport.
