Nathan Herne quickest in both Turtle Wax Trans Am 100 practice sessions

Team Valvoline GRM Ford Mustang driver Nathan Herne has finished fastest in both practice sessions ahead of the Turtle Wax Trans Am 100 on Sunday as part of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.

Just returning from a US Trans Am cameo at the Circuit of The Americas, Herne set a time of 2m 11.750s in the opening session to lead Supercheap Auto Mustang driver Nash Morris by 0.639s, while TPS Group/Breeze Holiday Parks’ Brett Holdsworth in his Chevrolet Camaro was third.

Garry Rogers Motorsport’s Owen Kelly was fourth ahead of teammate Lochie Dalton and the All American Driveline Mustang of Ben Grice, who encountered trouble at The Cutting as he failed to appear for the second session.

Young-based Hugh McAlister was seventh from Aaron Tebb in his Waltec Motorsport Camaro, the Dodge Challenger of James Simpson for Seven82 Motors and Anthony Loscialpo driving the Team Tempest Solutions Chevrolet.

American Robert Noaker just missed the top 10 to be 11th in the Franklin Road Apparel Racing Dodge Challenger.

Practice 2 was wet and many drivers elected to not contest the session, which was again led by Herne on a 2m 35.535s as Holdsworth followed just 0.214s off the pace.

Kelly and Morris were also under a second behind, as Dalton, Noaker, McAlister, CXC Racing’s Dylan Thomas, Simpson and Holinger Racing driver John Holinger in his Chevrolet Camaro completed the top 10.

Of the remaining 17 entries Jack Sipp was 11th from Loscialpo, West Australian pair Brett Niall and Jason Pryde, Nick Lange, Mark Crutcher and Adam Hargreaves.

Turtle Wax Trans Am returns to the track at 4:40pm AEDT this afternoon for Qualifying.
